A Short History of the Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a professional American football team in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They are members of the North Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the NFL. In addition to being the third-oldest franchise in the NFL, the Packers are also the only non-profit, community owned major league professional sports team in the United States.
The Green Bay Packers are one of the last "small town teams" that were once commonplace for the NFL in the 1920s and 1930s. The team was founded in 1919 by Early "Curly" Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun. The Packers can trace their lineage to other semi-professional teams dating as far back as 1896. In 1921, the Packers joined the American Professional Football Association (APFA), which is known today as the National Football League (NFL).
The team has won twelve league championships (more than any other NFL team) including nine NFL Championships and three Super Bowl wins in 1967 (Super Bowl I), 1968 (Super Bowl II) and 1997 (Super Bowl XXXI). The Packers had 13 non-losing consecutive seasons (which means they won more games each year than they lost) that started in 1992, which was an active NFL record until the team suffered a loss during the 2005 season. In 2006 they returned to an 8-8 season and a 13-3 in 2007.
Rivalries - The Green Bay Packers share a near century long rivalry with the Chicago Bears over a suspension the Bears engineered for the Packers to receive as they tried to sign a top player - during which, the Bears signed the player themselves. The Packers also consider the Minnesota Vikings to be a top rivalry as well.
Do you really want to miss this?
Below we've got a few videos we think you Packer fans will get a kick out of. The first is titled "I Love My Green Bay Packers." Watch and enjoy a short music video on the Green Bay Packers football team. It's filled with great team players and photos. Most of all it's entertaining... this was definitely one of our favorite videos from all the ones we have seen during our time of picking videos for the TicketFireSale.com website. The song was original and quite funny... you have to go watch and listen for yourself. The second video is more of a tribute tribute to the Green Bay Packers Hall of Famers. The video includes all 21 of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame players (the Packers organization has the second most Hall of Famer of any NFL franchise in history). See Curley Lambeau, Robert (Cal) Hubbard, Don Hutson, Johnny (Blood) Mc Nally and Clarke, Hinkle, Favre and many more.
