A Short History of the Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a professional American football team in Kansas City, Missouri. They are members of the Western Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the NFL. The team was originally founded as a charter member of the AFL by Lamar Hunt in 1960 and named the Dallas Texans. In 1963 the team moved to Kansas City, Missouri and became the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs were the most successful franchise in the AFL from 1960 to 1969, winning the league championship three times (1963, 1966 and 1969) and having an all-time record of 92-50-5. The Chief's are the second AFL team (New York Jets were the first) to defeat an NFL team in an AFL/NFL World Championship Game, when they defeated the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV.
Although the Chief's have had success in the American Football League, the Super Bowl IV victory, is their last championship to date. The team's fan base is known as one of the most loyal of all time with Arrowhead Stadium boasting a league best 149 game (18 seasons) sell-out streak and a home record of 104-40 since 1990, a best in NFL history.
Rivalries - The Kansas City Chiefs count the Oakland Raiders as their top rivalry and have since the AFL was established back in the sixties. They also share a mutual rivalry with the Denver Broncos.
Do you really want to miss this?
K.C. Chiefs fans have had a few trying years alone the way, but you've also had some great moments as well. Below we share two videos that show off those good times. The first is a video montage of the upcoming Kansas City Chiefs 2008-2009 Season. In our opinion the music playing in the background leaves something to be desired but the video itself is awesome. Kansas City fans will get pumped and ready for the football season watching favorites like Glenn Dorsey, Jared Allen, Brandon Albert and many more. The second video lets you watch the "Kansas City Chiefs Rock". The video is a collection of best plays and photographs of the 2006 and 2007 season. The video will serve as a bitter reminder for most Kansas City fans that will miss Jared Allen during the new season, but nonetheless its worthy footage with some of the best highlights and snap shots from the 2006 and 2007 season.
