A Short History of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional American football team in Tampa, Florida. Their city is often mistakenly referred to as "Tampa Bay" due to the name of the area sports teams named after the body of water, the "Tampa Bay", that sits next to the city of Tampa. They are members of the Southern Division of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the NFL. The Buccaneers joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. Malcolm Glazer currently owns the team and Jon Gruden is the head coach.
It was a disappointing first season for the Buccaneers and the team lost their first 26 games. They experienced a short lived winning streak in the late 1970s and early 1980s and then lost fourteen consecutive seasons. The losing streak grew to a record twenty six consecutive games as the team lost the first 12 games of the second season as well. In 1978 they improved, winning five games. The following season they shocked the league and won their first five games.
From 1996 until 2006 they were unwavering playoff competitors and at the end of the 2002 season they won Super Bowl XXXVII. That was win remains their one and only Super Bowl appearance to date.
Rivalries - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers count the Carolina Panthers as their top divisional rival. The rivalry began when the Buccaneers and Panthers were placed in the NFC South after the 2002 division re-alignment. The Bucs also count the Philadelphia Eagles as a rivalry. It originally started in the 70's, died down, and was reborn again in 2002 after the Buccaneers suffered destruction of their Super Bowl dreams after being handed a loss by the Eagles in the playoffs.

Players seen in the video include Carnell Williams, Clifton Smith, B.J. Aske, Warrick Dunn, Michael Bennett, Mike Alstott and other favorites. Watch the famed Buc running backs as they own the field, block the ball and catch passes. "Move Bitch" by Ludacris is the song playing in the background. The second video begs you to watch and remember Tampa Bay Buccaneers very first win ever in NFL history. It happened 30 long years ago on December 11, 1977. The Buccaneers broke a 26 game losing streak (which was an NFL record) by defeating the New Orleans Saints 33-14. The video (courtesy of CBS-TV and BucPower.com) shows the Buc's final touchdown, an interception in the end zone by defensive end Greg Johnson. This marked the beginning of the end of being known as the Yuccaneers.
