2009 NFL Season - Five Worst Teams
Although we are months away from the beginning of the 2009 NFL season, we can start to see which teams will struggle. The following five teams would be lucky to break .500 next season.
5) Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals will remain one of the most talented teams in the NFL but there has been no progress in terms of fixing the chemistry problems that ail the team. The lack of cohesion on either side of the ball will once again leave the Bengals on the outside of the playoffs looking in.
4) Oakland Raiders
Despite having promising pieces, especially at quarterback and running back, the Raiders simply aren’t going to do much in the 2009 NFL season. They are still a couple of years away from getting back to the top of the league. For that to happen, their young players need to progress, however that progression won’t come fast enough to save 2009.
3) Kansas City Chiefs
The problem in Kansas City is a lack of talent. A few good pieces are scattered on the team here and there but overall it can be argued that the Chiefs simply do not have enough good football players. Their coaching change may help but don’t count on much if you are a Chiefs fan.
2) St. Louis Rams
The Rams are in a bad spot. Not only are they are below average team, they have a lot of veteran players. That means that things will probably stay the same or get worse in 2009. The offense will once again be explosive but that won’t be enough to help the Rams out of the basement.
1) Detroit Lions
After becoming the first NFL team to go 0-16, don’t expect much improvement by the Lions in 2009. They won’t lose all their games again but 12 to 14 wins is definitely within their grasps.
