Baltimore Ravens to Lose Ogden to Retirement?
The rumor mill is reporting that Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden will announce his retirement sometime next week. If it’s true, the left side of Baltimore’s offensive line will likely feel it in the upcoming season - and not in a good way.
According to the Sun, Ogden has not informed new Ravens coach John Harbaugh of his decision but has told people close to him that he intends to retire. The 12-year veteran endured injury-plagued seasons in 2006 and 2007 and considered retiring before the start of last year. - [National Post]
The Ravens already had a tough upcoming season with a solid defense and a weaker than average offense. This loss could make that offense even weaker. On top of that, their schedule is a bit grueling with games against some of the best defenses in the league including the Indianapolis Colts and their rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers (who they play twice), which have the number one and number two ranked defenses respectively. Unless we see this offense come together and make some things happen, it’s highly doubtful we’ll see a playoff run for the Ravens this year.
