BC Lions Trying for a Sellout to Honor Bob Ackles
CFL lost one of its legends earlier this month when Bob Ackles passed away and the BC Lions decided to honor Bob at their July 18th game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The Lions are hoping for a sellout to honor their most successful “water boy” but thus far, the game isn’t sold out and still shows seats available in the lower levels from first-market ticket vendors and fans have been taking notice of the lack of sales.
But the BC Lions seem hopeful that the game will end up being sold out. George Chayka, vice-president of business operations stated that tickets were selling at a faster rate than those of the home opener, but not by a large margin. Chayka went on to note:
“A lot of it is going to depend on what happens this week leading up to the game,” he said. “There’s such a large potential for a large walk up. I’d encourage people to buy tickets in advance if they’re planning on going to the game because that ensures minimal wait times.”
We hope the fans turn out that day to show their support for a man who never wavered in the support of “his” football fans.
