CFL Legend Bob Ackles Dies

There will probably never be another man to give as much of his time, talent and energy to a football team the way Bob Ackles did to the B.C. Lions and the CFL. Ackles was a member of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, inducted in 2004 and his memoir about his rise in Canadian Football League organization, from water boy to President and CEO of the Lions club. Current CFL commissioner, Mark Cohon said in a statement:

“It was our league that virtually adopted him when he was just a boy, and it’s our league that has looked to him as a man for counsel, inspiration and leadership by example. As much as the CFL has meant to Bob, he has meant so much more to us. - [Source]

Bob will indeed be missed. In addition to being a legend in the CFL, Ackles also served as the Vice President of Player Personnel for the Dallas Cowboys, among holding senior management positions with other NFL teams and with the Las Vegas Outlaws which was a team in the now defunct XFL league. Innovation, dedication and determination are three things Ackles will long be remembered for.
