Quinton Jackson - Plea Bargain and Future Fights
Quinton Jackson, one of the most well known mixed martial arts fighters in the world, made a plea bargain to stay out of prison. Jackson was in trouble with the law after a vehicular incident in July of 2008. The incident, which occurred in California, included Jackson running a number of red lights, driving recklessly and endangering a number of pedestrians.
Following his arrest, Jackson’s erratic behavior was attributed to delirium due to not eating for several days. Instead, Jackson was reportedly surviving on energy drinks and water alone in attempt to get in shape.
The plea bargain will require Jackson to complete at least 200 hours of community service and undergo mental health analysis. Reports also indicate that Jackson will have to pay restitution for any damage caused by his incident.
Jackson recently returned to the sport of mixed martial arts in UFC 92. The event, which took place on December 27th, featured Jackson versus the talented and dangerous Wanderlei Silva. However, Jackson wasted little time as he landed a left hook to knock Silva out in the first round. The fight named won the “Knockout of the Night” following UFC 92.
Although Jackson has no scheduled upcoming fight as of yet, rumblings around the mixed martial arts scene have him going up against Rashad Evans. Evans, who is currently the UFC light heavyweight champion, would give Jackson a chance to regain a UFC championship. In July, a few weeks prior to the incident, Jackson lost the light heavyweight championship to Forrest Griffin.
The 30-year-old Jackson has seen the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in his UFC career. However, if he can continue to get his life back in line and prove that it was an isolated incident, there’s no reason why he can’t rise to the top of the UFC mountain once again.
