Darian Durant made his first CFL start one that counts by showcasing a fantastic performance in Saturday’s 33-28 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. And it didn’t take very long before analysts and bloggers alike we abuzz with premature predictions that Durant may very well oust Marcus Crandell as the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ starting quarterback. But head coach Ken Austin is putting any whispers to rest:

“One of the things I intend to avoid is any type of quarterback controversy,” said Miller. As Miller states whenever he is asked, “Marcus Crandell is our starting quarterback.” Durant realizes that, his teammates realize that and so should anyone who gets caught up in the euphoria of the first-time starter’s impressive performance. - [Source]

Currently 3-0, and the last undefeated team in the CFL for this season, the Roughriders are experiencing a great season in spite of various injuries experienced by the team starters. Coming off of a Grey Cup win, the Roughriders have been experiencing immense support from the Rider Nation, with ticket sales being up, along with fan expectations.
