Three NBA Trades that Should Happen
With the NBA trade deadline of February 19th quickly approaching, many trades are being talked about around the league. Unlike most years, there are a lot of big names on the market that can be had for the right price. Here are three NBA trades that make a lot of sense:
1) Phoenix Suns trade Amare Stoudemire to the Chicago Bulls for Tyrus Thomas, Joakim Noah, Kirk Hinrich and Thabo Sefolosha
The Suns have made no secret about their wishes to find Stoudemire a new home. If they trade their All-Star power forward, they would want a group of talented players in return. In this trade, they’d receive four quality players who could all help the team going forward.
As for the Bulls, they need to start converting some of their talent into winning pieces. Stoudemire and rookie Derrick Rose could team to form Chicago’s one-two punch going forward.
2) Miami Heat trade Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks to the Toronto Raptors for Jermaine O’Neal and Jamario Moon.
This is a trade that could potentially really help both teams. The Raptors would be getting a player in Marion who can rebound and defend at the small forward position, two traits they sorely lack. Plus Banks could provide depth at point guard.
The Heat, on the other hand, have a big hole in the middle of their lineup. Getting O’Neal could potentially fill that hole and give the Heat the center they’ve been lacking since trading away the other O’Neal. As an added bonus, Jamario Moon gives the Heat an adequate Marion replacement.
3) The Detroit Pistons trade Rasheed Wallace to the San Antonio Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Michael Finley, Ime Udoka, Fabricio Oberto, a first round draft pick, a second round draft pick and the rights to Tiago Splitter.
At the end of the season, Rasheed Wallace’s contract will be expiring. With the Pistons not having the appearance of a true contender, Detroit could do this trade to get a few assets before potentially losing Wallace for nothing.
The Spurs would be getting a bigman to put next to Duncan to form a dynamic duo. The Pistons could also waive Bowen and Finley, which would lessen what the Spurs would be losing.
