Top Five NBA All-Star Game Snubs
Following the announcement of the rosters for the 2009 NBA All-Star Game, the attention turned to the NBA players who didn’t make the team. Here is a look at the top five All-Star game snubs.
Al Jefferson, Minnesota Timberwolves
The T’Wolves Jefferson in the trade involving Kevin Garnett and Jefferson is quietly turning into a superstar. On the low post, he has fantastic footwork and great touch around the basket. Minnesota as a team has also started to play much better as of late. Since the beginning of 2009, the T’Wolves have actually been one of the best teams in the NBA — in large part due to Jefferson’s play.
Ray Allen, Boston Celtics
The reining NBA champions got two of their Big Three named to the All-Star game. The one left out was Allen, who is having a very good season. Even though his shot attempts are down, he’s shooting the ball with great accuracy from the field and he has been the ultimate team player. With the Celtics once again playing extremely well, they deserved to get all three of their best players on the team.
Mo Williams, Cleveland Cavaliers
Despite having one of the best records in the entire NBA, the Cavs only have LeBron James heading to the All-Star game. Williams deserved the recognition for being the team’s second best player and giving James a perfect sidekick. After coming over from the Milwaukee Bucks in the offseason, Williams has been a seamless fit and is a big reason why the Cavs are championship contenders.
Carmelo Anthony, Denver Nuggets
The only thing that is keeping Anthony from the All-Star game is the injury he suffered earlier in the month that forced him to miss ten games. Outside of that injury, Anthony was definitely deserving of an All-Star game appearance. He has a much more polished all-around game and he’s working harder on both ends of the court.
Paul Millsap, Utah Jazz
Despite dealing with a myriad of injuries, the Jazz have been able to stay afloat. Why? The play of Millsap is the main reason. He’s gone from being a solid bench player to being a very good starting power forward. With Carlos Boozer sidelined, Millsap has filled in and more than held his own.
