UFC 94 Preview - Fight Matchups

The next UFC event will be held on Jan. 31 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. This event is UFC 94 and will feature many interesting mixed martial arts fight matchups. Although there are five additional fights on the preliminary card, here is a preview of the five fights on the main card.

BJ Penn versus Georges St-Pierre
This fight between the American Penn and the Canadian St-Pierre will be a bout that determines the UFC welterweight championship. St-Pierre has a career record of 19-2 and is currently the welterweight champion of the UFC. Penn has a record of 13-4 and is the current UFC lightweight champion.

Thiago Silva versus Lyoto Machida
Many hardcore mixed martial arts fans are looking forward to this fight the most. Silva and Machida are both from Brazil and they are both 13-0 in their careers. In this light heavyweight fight, only one fighter will remain undefeated when all is said and done.

Jon Jones versus Stephan Bonnar
Although not thoroughly experienced, Jones has yet to lose in his MMA career. Bonnar is more experienced but he is 12-4 and has last half of his last four bouts. While not as hyped as the other light heavyweight fight on the main card, all eyes will be on Jones to see if he’s indeed the real deal.

Dong Hyun Kim versus Karo Parisyan
This welterweight matchup is sure to attract a worldwide audience. Kim is an 11-0 fighter out of South Korea, while Parisyan is an 18-5 fighter from Armenia. Kim is a talented fighter but he still has a lot to prove. Parisyan is trying to bounce back from a defeat at the hands of Thiago Alves back in April.

Clay Guida versus Nate Diaz
Although he’s only 27 years old, Guida has been around the block a few times in his MMA career. Nicknamed “The Carpenter”, Guida has a record of 23-9 in his more than five years of fighting. The 23-year-old Diaz has a record of 10-2 and has won five straight fights. Both fighters will try to use UFC 94 to work toward high profile fights on the lightweight level.
