UFC 95 - Main Event Fight Matchups
If you are waiting for the next Ultimate Fighting Championship event, you don’t have to wait too much longer. UFC 95 will take place on Feb. 21 in London, England at the O2 Arena. This mixed martial arts event features five fights on the main card that are all interesting in their own way. In the United States, you will be able to watch this UFC event of Spike.
In the only matchup featuring two Americans, Diego Sanchez takes on Joe Stevenson in a lightweight battle. Sanchez is a 27-year-old fighter San Diego who has a mixed martial arts record of 19-2. He has won his last two fights, including a victory in UFC 82. Stevenson, on the other hand, is coming off of a loss against Randy Couture in UFC 91 and has a lifetime record of 29-9.
Dan Hardy, who is fighting out of the England, will take on Rory Markham, who is fighting out of Iowa. Hardy is the only Brit who will be fighting on the main card in front of his home crowd. He has a lifetime record of 19-6, however he has won nine of his last ten fights. Markham is 16-4 and has won four of his last five fights.
The other three matchups on the UFC 95 main card feature an American versus a Brazilian. In a welterweight bout, Josh Koscheck goes up against Paulo Thiago. Koscheck is fighting out of California and has a record of 12-3. Thiago is undefeated in seven career fights but will be fighting for the first time outside of his home country of Brazil.
In one of the two middleweight fights, Brazilian Demian Maia takes on Chael Sonnen of Oregon. Sonnen is 21-9 but has won seven of his last eight fights. Maia is a perfect 9-0 and has won his last four fights in UFC 91, UFC 87, UFC 83 and UFC 77. With another win, Maia can claim his spot as one of the rising stars in the sport.
The other middleweight bout has Brazilian Wilson Gouveia fighting Nathan Marquardt out of Colorado. Marquardt is 26-8 and has split his last four fights. Gouveia is 12-5 and has won five of six of his last seven matchups.
