UFC 98 – Fighters and Matchups
The next UFC event to be held in the United States will be UFC 98 and will take place in Las Vegas on May 23rd in the MGM Grad Garden Arena. This mixed martial arts event has already seen its fights change multiple times, however there are still a number of very interesting matchups planned for the night.
In the fight everyone wants to see, Rashad Evans goes up against Lyoto Machida. The undefeated Evans is considered one of the rising stars in the sports. Machida doesn’t have as much hype but he’s a very good fighter who is also undefeated. Although Evans is favored in the fight, the Brazil born Machida has the skills to pull the upset.
The other fight that will have fans enthralled is Matt Serra taking on Matt Hughes. These two mixed martial arts fighters were a part of The Ultimate Fighter 6. In the reality series, Serra and Hughes were coaches. While both fighters are in their mid-30s, this fight should be highly emotional. Definitely expect a knockout at some point in this matchup.
In a middleweight bout on the main card, Yushin Okami of Japan will fight Dan Miller of the United States. Yushin has a record of 23-4 and has won nine of his last ten fights. His last three wins were in UFC 92, UFC 82 and UFC 77. Miller has a lifetime record of 11-1 and his lone loss came all the way back in 2006.
The last two fights on the main card feature four Americans. In the lightweight bout, Frank Edgar will fight Sean Sherk. Edgar is fighting out of New Jersey, while Sherk is out of Minnesota. The welterweight matchup has Chris Wilson fighting Josh Koscheck. Although both fighters are coming off of a loss, these two UFC fighters should put on a good show.
