Will Dungy Stick Around to Try for Superbowl History?

The 2012 Superbowl was awarded to Indianapolis last month. Rumors have been circulating for quite a while that Tony Dungy, the head coach for the Indianapolis Colts, might be ready to retire after nearly 29 years of coaching - seven of which were spent in Indianapolis - the team that finally brought him to realize his dream of coaching a team to win a Super Bowl championship (we make absolutely no bones that we here at Ticketfiresale.com are Dungy fans who still regret that he wasn’t able to realize that dream in Tampa first).

The immediate speculation was to wonder whether or not this recent announcement may convince Dungy to stay on until 2012 to attempt to do something no team has yet been able to do… win a Superbowl on their home ground.

I guess the implication of all this speculation for fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who will host the 2009 Superbowl), the Miami Dolphins (who will host the 2010 Superbowl) and the Dallas Cowboys (who will host the 2011 Superbowl) is also that these speculating analysts think the historical record will still be up for grabs by the time 2012 rolls around.

But whether or not Dungy will still be head coach in 2012 remains to be seen. We hope to see him stick around that long and we’d love to see him take a spot in the NFL history books if he does.
